When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Why am I trying 50 new things? To boldly answer this question: "When was the last time you tried something for the first time?"
For me, it's not about creating a "bucket list" or an "impossible list." It’s about trying new things. Like when I was a kid without all of today's "responsibilities" and distractions.
How to Overcome My Fear of Failure
In short, the 50 Firsts Challenge is my way of overcoming my fear of failure.
My thesis: If I can start trying new things again, it will become easier for me to try new things again.
If I can learn to ride a unicycle or play the ukulele, fly a sailplane or jump out of an airplane, or write and publish my own book, I can overcome a lot of fears and do something in life that really matters. And maybe I can inspire you to do the same.
I don't need a girlfriend or a fast car or a Harley. What I need is a way to shock my system into believing life is just getting good.
The Next 50 Years start now. A time to live beyond my fears and do something that matters.
From Seth Godin:
"Your biggest failure is the thing you dreamed of contributing but didn’t find the guts to do."
